Cation, Maiyo Pace Sandburg XC Teams at Augustana

The Carl Sandburg College cross country teams competed in the Augustana Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Friday evening at Saukie Golf Course.
The Chargers’ men’s team took 23rd in a field largely made up of four-year schools. The women’s team did not field enough runners to record a team score.
Andrew Cation (Yates City, Ill./Farmington) was the Chargers’ top finisher in the men’s 8K with a time of 28 minutes, 34.3 seconds, good for 162nd overall. Ryan Monson (Aledo, Ill./Mercer County) wasn’t far behind, placing 169th in 28:40.8.
Caren Maiyo (Eldoret, Kenya) was Sandburg’s first runner across the line in the women’s 5K, placing 92nd in 25:02.3.
